Over the weekend there were a slew of new polls from NBC/Marist and CBS News/New York Time/YouGov covering every single senate race and they almost all fit a clear and simple pattern. In states that traditionally go Republican in Presidential elections the Republican Senate candidates hold the lead, while Democrats are ahead in the states President Obama carried in 2012.

The American people support airstrikes in Iraq but not boots on the ground, according to a new YouGov poll. It found 58 percent of Americans support President Obama’s plan to conduct airstrikes against insurgents in Iraq, but there is strong opposition to putting American personnel on the ground in any capacity. A mere 15 percent support sending American ground troops to actually fight and only 30 percent would support sending troops to just assist the Iraqi army.

The latest YouGov poll for The Economist has found a solid majority, 58 percent of Americans, agree that marijuana should be regulated and taxed just like like alcohol and tobacco. Almost as important, the poll found that only 23 percent disagreed with the idea of treating cannabis like alcohol.
