WNET PBS Returns Money From Fmr Enron Trader For Pension Series

After an expose was published showing that WNET had once again been taking money from plutocrats to promote a Neoliberal agenda, WNET has decided to return the money from former Enron Trader John Arnold.

Arnold had funded a serious called “Pension Peril” that was heavily biased in favor of trickle down economic theory that called for cuts to pension systems

This is even worse than having PBS be yet another outlet for Neoliberal talking points. This program deceitfully presents a reactionary political agenda as fair and objective. PBS it is acting as a propaganda outlet while posing as a media group working for the public interest.

David Koch Fallout From New Yorker Article; Koch Continues Harassment of Journalists

Amid concerns that Koch Industries could buy several major U.S. newspapers from Tribune Company, industrial billionaire David Koch was forced to step down as trustee of WNET, New York City’s largest public TV station, after the New Yorker revealed how WNET gave Koch inappropriate influence over its programming. Mr. Koch was floating a seven-figure donation over WNET’s leadership as the station aired a movie that portrayed him as a particularly greedy Manhattan resident.

Sure enough, WNET didn’t get David Koch’s hefty donation.

Public Television Cowers Before Koch Brothers

Not even a week after Buzzfeed’s relationship with the Koch Brothers is exposed do we learn that a near civil war erupted in public television over documentaries that focused on Charles and David Koch. In an expose written by Jane Mayer of the New Yorker it is revealed that two public television affiliated documentaries prominently featuring the Koch family came under pressure to be censored and edited due to fear that Charles and David Koch, major donors to public media, would withdraw support.
