It isn’t hard to conclude that Senate Republicans made colossal asses of themselves Tuesday, when they successfully (?) scuttled a UN treaty that essentially enshrines US law abroad, rather than the other way around they are always fearing. But considering their already shaky popularity with so much of America, the question is why it was so important for them to do so anyway.

The Götterdämmerung that is the Republican Party’s campaign for the presidency in 2012 has been wild enough to give hope for a round of presidentin’ to everyone who’s enjoyed a few minutes in media’s glare. That includes TX gov. Perry, recently much touted for offering to secede, and throwing court challenges against EPA’s right to protect TX citizens from the polluters that fund his campaigns.

It’s worth revisiting the bizarre interview Franklin Graham gave with Christiane Amanpour in which he came close to endorsing Donald Trump, questioned Obama’s citizenship and faith — and made this historically revisionist claim.

Why is Donald Trump leading the GOP 2012 contenders in polls? Because Republicans are batshit. But if you’re Bobo, you can’t just say, “Republicans are batshit.”

A central pillar of 21st century “conservative” dogma is that the Main Stream Media is never, ever to be trusted, as it is Liberal-Biased and Elitist and doomed to be replaced by Citizen Journalism, an enterprise which involves pretending that Sarah Palin is smart, Barack Obama is a Far-Leftist, and so forth. A fascinating corollary to the Never Trust the MSM axiom, however, is that if a particular story emerging from the MSM happens to be congruent with fondly cherished wingnut fantasy, that story must be implicitly trusted as conveying Unimpeachable Fact and, indeed, Wisdom.

Something I find consistently baffling about neocon pundits is their unfailing support of policies that have objectively failed. Here’s former Bush speechwriter Jay Nordlinger, explaining why Israel was better off with W. in the White House.
