Vince Gill vs Westboro: He Wins

Westboro Baptist Church, aka the Frothin’ Phelpses, decided to protest a Vince Gill concert in Kansas City because he’s (OMG!) divorced and remarried. But the Grammy-award winning singer took matters into his own hands by going up to the protestors because he wanted “to see what hate looked like.”

You may know that the Westboro Baptist Church, aka the extended family of Fred Phelps, has had a few folks leave it over the years. The latest persons to leave, two of Fred’s granddaughters, are notable in that they represent the rising generation that’s being groomed to take over the family when Fred goes to the Great Beyond.

We live in a culture that is more comfortable asking rape victims “why did you let yourself get raped?” than asking their attackers “why did you rape?” After a Toronto cop’s remark seemed to put the responsibility for rape on how a victim dressed, it lit a fuse of anger that has spread around the globe.
