Pentagon Finances Still ‘Unauditable’

Though we live in the age of austerity, at least concerning the 99%, the Department of Defense gets around $600 billion a year. More funds than any other military in the world. More funds than the next ten highest spending countries combined.

So what happens to all that money once it enters the Pentagon?

 

State Department Spent $630,000 On Facebook ‘Likes’

An Inspector General’s report blasts the State Department for wasting $630,000 on trying to get ‘likes’ on Facebook. The Bureau of International Information Programs spent the money to increase its “likes” count between 2011 and March 2013.

During this recent debate about the deficit and cutting programs that help regular people, it is important to keep in mind that not only are the oil companies receiving massive tax subsidies directly from the government, but, thanks to lack oversight and bad lease agreements, the federal government is likely getting a far smaller share of the domestic oil revenue than it should.
