FBI Has “Clarity” in Identity of Who Placed Spokane Bomb

By: Teddy Partridge Friday January 21, 2011 3:50 pm

I still marvel at the lack of attention to this case when our Gateway Media went wall-to-wall in November over the Portland ‘bomber’ at our city’s Xmas tree lighting. I suppose we need to wait for a suspect to be in custody before the current case in Spokane — where there was a real bomb with real, or even historic, lethality — deserves that kind of attention.

Potentially Lethal Backpack Bomb Defused on Spokane MLK Parade Route

By: Teddy Partridge Tuesday January 18, 2011 3:02 pm

Yesterday, in Spokane, Washington, a ‘potentially lethal destructive device’ concealed in a backpack on the route of the Martin Luther King parade was disarmed and destroyed before anyone in or viewing the parade was hurt.

More Proof Washington State’s Top-Two Primary Could Serve as National Bellwether

By: Jon Walker Monday November 29, 2010 7:25 am

The Washington primary can serve as a useful predictor on a macro level. Partisan swings in the Washington primary vote closely mirrored the national Congressional swings we saw in November.

Analysis of Washington State Congressional Primary Predicts Massive Swing to Republicans This November

By: Jon Walker Thursday August 26, 2010 5:05 pm

I’ve previously posted on my research showing a very high correlation between the results in Washington State’s “top two” primary and the results in the general election. The system makes the “primary” more like the first round of the general election in a traditional runoff election system. Washington has a history of very high primary turnout–this year it was 40.63 percent–and because of the previous use of the “blanket primary,” voting for members of both parties in the primary was common. Assuming this correlation holds up this year, my analysis points to an extremely bad November for Democrats.

“Top Two” Analysis Shows Washington, California Primaries Could Predict Future Trends in General Elections

By: Jon Walker Friday August 20, 2010 6:06 am

The “top two primary” system now used in Washington and to be used in California starting in 2012 is not like a traditional primary, where people vote to select a nominee for each party. Since the top two primary system is much more like a general election than a traditional primary, the question is can the vote in these “top two primary” states serve as a good predictor for what will happen nationwide in November.

NRCC: Nine GOP Reps in Danger of Losing Seats

By: Jon Walker Wednesday June 16, 2010 5:05 pm

Rep. Mike Rogers, the chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee’s incumbent-retention program, has pinpointed the nine most vulnerable GOP House members up for re-election and wants supporters to focus only on them. All represent districts that carried President Obama in 2008. Here’s a look at the endangered nine.

Washington State Favors Marijuana Legalization 52% to 35%

By: Michael Whitney Thursday June 3, 2010 6:45 am

According to the poll of 1,252 registered voters conducted last month, 52% in Washington State support “removing state civil and criminal penalties for possession or use of marijuana,” with only 35% opposed. The poll’s release did not indicate the position of the other 13%.

ACTION: Defend the 1st Amendment in Washington State

By: Brian Sonenstein Tuesday May 25, 2010 2:05 pm

In support of the 200+ activists trying to let voters decide if marijuana should be legalized at the ballot box in November, we’ve started our own petition to WestNet, demanding they return all 200 signatures of the I-1068 petition and destroy any other copies they have made.
