O’Keefe Pals Attempt Voter Fraud in New Hampshire, Could Go to Jail For It |
| By: David Dayen Wednesday January 11, 2012 4:32 pm |
Yesterday in New Hampshire, repeat dirty trickster James O’Keefe had the bright idea of getting some of his lackies to impersonate a voter. This would display how easy it is to commit voter fraud, or so one assumes was their point. Well, not only was it not all that easy, but the lackies in question were caught and could see jail time as a result. So remember, only GOP Secretaries of State and repeat conservative dirty tricksters pose a threat of voter fraud.
Iowa GOP Borrowing Cheney’s Undisclosed Location for Caucus Ballot-Counting |
| By: David Dayen Wednesday December 28, 2011 3:50 pm |
Concerned about a nonexistent threat to the integrity of the caucuses, the Iowa Republican Party will move their ballot-counting operation to an “undisclosed location.” Meanwhile, the same Republicans who spent all year fretting about voter fraud, and who are shrouding their vote tabulation activities in secrecy, do not require a photo ID to vote in the caucuses they run.
Voter Fraud News: Indiana GOP Secretary of State “Ineligible to Serve” |
| By: Teddy Partridge Thursday December 22, 2011 3:00 pm |
So here’s a wild end-of-the-year situation: Charlie White, the Secretary of State of Indiana, has been ruled ineligible to serve by a judge in Marion County. White has been battling charges that he was illegally registered to vote at the wrong address. In other words, he would be the most high-profile perpetrator of voter fraud in recent US history.
What’s more, the judge ruled that the second-place finisher in the 2010 Indiana Secretary of State’s race, Democrat Vop Osili, should be made the Secretary of State.

Protests in Russia Lead to Challenge for Putin in Presidential Elections |
| By: David Dayen Monday December 12, 2011 8:15 am |
Protests in Russia over the weekend, after a rigged Parliamentary election that still saw Vladimir Putin’s party lose ground, has led to an additional challenge for Putin in next year’s Presidential race. The near-term ramifications for this open dissent is that it offers an opportunity to potentially challenge Putin in the elections, and one Russian billionaire will take up that effort.
Obama Still Holds Big Advantage with Young Voters |

Not since 1972 has generation played such a significant role in voter preferences as it has in recent elections. Younger people have voted substantially more Democratic in each election since 2004, while older voters have cast more ballots for Republican candidates in each election since 2006.
A new Pew Research Center study suggests this pattern may well continue in 2012.
Wisconsin: Walker Shuts Down DMV Offices in Democratic Areas after Passing Voter ID Law |
| By: David Dayen Monday July 25, 2011 2:45 pm |
Here’s a slick little two-step from Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. He knows that he has caused himself and his party tremendous damage by pursuing a radical right-wing agenda. He is desperate to cling to power so these policies don’t get rolled back. So one of his ideas was to pass a voter ID law to help suppress the vote in future years (this mostly won’t affect the recall elections next month). Responding to the virtually non-existent scourge of voter fraud, the bill disenfranchises low-income voters and the elderly who don’t have a picture ID like a driver’s license. Of course, Republicans could say, these voters need to merely go to any DMV and obtain a picture ID there. Simple, elegant and secure, right? Except Walker is closing down a bunch of DMV’s …
