The 99 Mile March, led by Tom Morello’s Guitarmy, began in Philadelphia in honor of the National Gathering. They also marched to honor the great folk music hero Woody Guthrie’s 100th birthday. Rock and roll has been the music of rebellion and social change since the 1950s, and each successive wave of youths have discovered its power (chords) and embraced its do-it-yourself aesthetic. Saturday marked the one week anniversary of Occupy LA so to celebrate, festive live music and cake! People made screened tee shirts, painted, talked, danced and wandered about the Occupy LA encampment, dropped off donated goods, and shared fruit from their trees. Bands played all day and special guest Tom Morello delivered a spirited set then stayed to chat with Occupiers.
