FDL Book Salon Welcomes Philip Mirowski, Never Let A Serious Crisis Go To Waste: How Neoliberalism Survived The Financial Meltdown

By: Sunday November 17, 2013 1:59 pm

It is now well understood that Neoliberals are not advocates of a small or stunted night watchman state. They regularly demean the state to outsiders, but that does not imply they prefer a weak state. Rather, all their political efforts are devoted to recasting the strong state as one that conforms to their doctrinal imperatives.

EPI Exposes James O’Keefe’s Failed Attempt to Buy Findings

By: Tuesday October 18, 2011 11:31 am

EPI is a small, respected economic policy think tank focusing on progressive economic issues. They do good work, so naturally, James O’Keefe tried to discredit them by conning them into a phony effort to pay for favorable findings — but EPI’s folks saw the ruse.

Obama Administration Comes Back to Liberal Wonks for Job Creation Ideas

By: Sunday September 11, 2011 4:45 pm

The White House wants you to believe that the American Jobs Act is loaded up with bipartisan solutions once preferred by Republicans. And to some extent, that’s true. But there are a number of Easter eggs in here, policy ideas that originated with liberal policy groups. The White House may be touting the bipartisan bona fides on the top line. Pete Peterson’s Purchase of Cat Food Commission, Media Pays Off

By: Thursday November 11, 2010 6:00 pm

I wanted to highlight something about the Cat Food Commission to permanently shrink government, something we’ve all known about, but which hasn’t been laid out in specific detail in a while. This Presidential commission has been borrowing paid staffers from groups that are ideologically committed to destroying the social safety net in America. This hasn’t been well-reported in the traditional media until today.
