We all know there isn’t much you can do to get exiled from the Village Media circuit. If being wrong about war, weapons of mass destruction, the Clinton impeachment, the Catholic church’s child rape scandals, and Team Obama’s drone-assassination policy were bannable offenses, all we’d have for cable channels would be test-patterns (remember them?)

But it used to be, back in the days of standards that mattered.

 

The Politics of Lying

One of my favorite authors, David Wise, published a book in 1973 called The Politics of Lying: Government Deception, Secrecy, and Power. At the time, of course, Watergate was rapidly unfolding, and the first President since Andrew Johnson was about to be impeached for, well, lying. I know it seems quaint today, when actually telling the truth about anything is seen as more politically damaging, but back then, people were still offended about being lied to, for which reason liars at least had some fear of getting caught.

The Human Rights Campaign, reliable lapdogs for the Obama White House and their lack of progress on LGBT issues, bothered to chastise GOP Senate candidate in Colorado Ken Buck — on Sunday! — for his remarks on NBC’s Meet the Press that being gay was a “choice.”

To hear how far out of the mainstream the Obama White House is, just listen to senior adviser Valerie Jarrett describe her conversation with the parents of suicided gay teen Justin Aarberg, and her description of Justin having “made a lifestyle choice.”
