When smart policies that reduce the deficit with 60-70% support are not being adopted the issue isn’t messaging, it is something deeper.

Given the polling, political energy, and demographic changes there is no doubt that in the near future Oregon will legalize marijuana. If activists don’t legalized it with a successful ballot initiative campaign this year, they are almost guaranteed to achieve victory in 2016 or 2018.
Governor John Kitzhaber (D) accepts this inescapable fact and told The Oregonian he thinks it would smart if the state legislature would preemptively adopt their own legalization proposal to put before voters.

Of the three marijuana legalization initiatives on the ballot this year, Oregon’s Measure 80 is currently performing the worst. While the legalization ballot measure in Washington State and Colorado continue to lead in all the public polling of those two states, Measure 80 has been trailing by a few points. The latest poll for The Oregonian conducted by Elway Research has it currently trailing by seven.
