Sunday Late Night: Did Roger Ailes Wiretap in the US?

By: Teddy Partridge Sunday July 17, 2011 8:01 pm

Now that the head of Rupert Murdoch’s British tabloid and the head of his American business daily flagship have both resigned, with the titian-haired one under arrest in Britain, is it time to look at the man GHWBush calls “our man Ailes” and his techniques that FOX News Channel may have used to make the news?

Tonight on ABC-News Nightline: Does Bachmann Clinic Pray Away the Gay”?”

By: Teddy Partridge Monday July 11, 2011 6:30 pm

I’m not sure why ABC News, summarizing two very straightforward reports published Friday, decided a question mark was necessary in its headline: Michele Bachmann Clinic: Where You Can Pray Away the Gay? The coverage from Friday, by Truth Wins Out (TWO) and The Nation, was quite clear that the answer to that question is “We’ll Certainly Try!”

Correlation Does Not Equal KochNation

At a threshold level, to prove their argument that something nefarious is afoot, they would need to start by dismissing other logical explanations for why this particular issue “suddenly rose to forefront.” Most obviously, they would need to dismiss the possibility that the opposition to gate grope rose so suddenly because the procedure at airport gates–the introduction of more RapeAScan machines and the related introduction of “enhanced pat-downs”–changed so suddenly.

Tribalism Fuels Outrage Outrage and Backlash Backlash over TSA Gate-Gate

By: Gregg Levine Wednesday November 24, 2010 1:45 pm

Ignoring the anger and demonizing the angry does not service liberty or security, and it doesn’t do much for the causes of progressives or the Democratic Party, either.

The Nation Attacks John “Don’t Touch My Junk” Tyner

By: Jane Hamsher Wednesday November 24, 2010 9:35 am

It’s obscene that The Nation published this hit piece. There’s nothing “liberal” about using your platform to launder unsubstantiated attacks by government officials against individual citizens who criticize them. They owe everyone involved an apology, and unless they can provide proof for the claims they make, they should print a retraction.

FDL Cutting Room Roundup: Hidden Easter Eggs

By: Rayne Sunday April 4, 2010 5:00 pm

Our team gathered some great video which didn’t get paired up with featured articles this week, but they’re excellent Easter evening treats. Here’s a second chance for some videos we couldn’t squeeze into this week’s lineup.

Criticizing the President on Health Care is “Naderite” and “Hurts the Progressive Agenda”

By: Jane Hamsher Monday December 28, 2009 8:35 am

[T]here is an orchestrated, active, full-court press to discredit and silence anyone who tries to point out the responsibility the president bears for crafting this bill. I’m surprised that the editor of the Nation would take part in it.

GRITtv Live: Year in Review/Decade in Review

By: GRITtv with Laura Flanders Wednesday December 23, 2009 9:29 am

The year is almost over, and it’s certainly been an eventful one. We’ve seen a new president, some huge bank bailouts, a dramatic election season and we’re closer than we’ve ever been to national health care reform–whether that’s a good thing or not.

It’s also about to be 2010 and the end of a decade that Time magazine suggested might’ve been the worst ever. Hyperbole? We’ll discuss the year that was and the decade that was with a roundtable of our favorite guests, including Katrina vanden Heuvel of The Nation, Mark Green of Air America, Danny Schechter of News Dissector, Max Blumenthal, author of Republican Gomorrah, Maya Wiley of the Center for Social Inclusion, Faye Wattleton of the Center for the Advancement of Women, and Nancy Giles of CBS News Sunday Morning.

GRITtv Live: Health Care Hits Senate

By: GRITtv with Laura Flanders Wednesday December 2, 2009 9:00 am

As activists make their way around Capitol Hill for today’s day of lobbying against the Stupak amendment, we ask: What will the Senate health care bill look like? Amidst the grandstanding, egos, and filibuster threats, is it possible to come out of the Senate with a more progressive bill than the House passed? Joining us [...]

GRITtv Live: One Year Later, What’s Changed?

By: GRITtv with Laura Flanders Wednesday November 4, 2009 9:00 am

In a special one-hour live stream, we bring back many of our guests from last year’s election day show to discuss what’s changed, what’s stayed the same, and what we still hope to see happen under Obama. Elections around the country of course saw nowhere near the turnout of the presidential race, yet the corporate [...]
