President Barack Obama is not the only one who thinks arming the Syrian rebels is a “fantasy,” an exhaustive study by the CIA shows that throughout the agency’s history covert support of rebel fighters has had very little success. According to The New York Times, the still classified study was commissioned in 2012 and continued throughout 2013 to help policymakers decide whether supporting the Syrian rebels was a good idea.

So it seems Al Qaeda has quite a foothold in Syria, recently empowered by capturing US weapons that were foolishly dumped into the country by the masters of universe who run US foreign policy. Let’s just be thankful that the Obama Administration gave up on bombing Al Qaeda’s opponents in Syria – the Assad government. Otherwise Al Qaeda might be running a great many schools instead of one.

One would think that this reportage, so at odds with what is being stated in the rest of the English-language press, would, if it were wrong, be immediately and thoroughly attacked and discredited by those with vested interests in toppling the Assad government. But so far, nothing. It’s as if the big media outlets and the elites whose interests they serve are afraid to call attention to Mint Press News and its blockbuster story alleging that the Saudi-backed Syrian rebels were behind the Ghouta gas attack.
