Hillary Clinton has recently joined twitter with a profile that seems to hint at future political plans and top Clinton loyalists are already raising money for a pro-Hillary Super PAC. If Clinton does enter the race she will likely scare off most of the other top-tier Democratic hopefuls.

After the victory in Wisconsin, many wondered where conservative interests would strike next to finish off unions and permanently alter the power relationship between labor and capital. It appears the next step is California. In November, voters will decide on an initiative, Prop 32, that would “eliminate unions from having any voice in politics whatsoever,” according to one labor official.

If different campaigns and Super PACs are to be believed, a billion dollars of outside money is going to be spent in this cycle just to help elect Republicans according to Politico.

A recent court ruling resulted in a flood of campaign spending by a very small group of ultra rich people into our elections and the latest example could be a Super PAC bankrolled by Joe Ricketts, the founder of TD Ameritrade. A group of conservatives is looking into a $10 million campaign to highlight President Obama’s connection to Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr.

For months the Obama administration has been pushing for a foreclosure fraud settlement that would be very favorable for the big banks. Obama finally got the deal he has long wanted today, Thursday February 9th. It was reported that a deal had been reached last night, February 8th.
This means on Tuesday February 7th, it was must have been know to people in the Obama administration that a foreclosure fraud deal had already been reached or would reached in the next few days.

Despite having criticized the Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling and the rise of Super PACs, President Obama’s re-election campaign has decided to fully endorse the use of their own allied Super PAC. Passing legislation about campaign finance reform was simply not a priority for the Obama administration.

The Iowa caucus was very good news for Rick Santorum. He effectively tied Mitt Romney for first place, losing to Romney by a margin of only eight votes. Santorum’s finish also greatly exceeded expectations. But it was an even better night for Mitt Romney, who may now be on a glide path to the nomination.

Is this the worst Congress in our lifetimes? The public now gives Congress its worst performance rating in the 20 years in which pollsters have been asking the question. Some of this new found disapproval of Congress is probably the result of the prolonged economic downturn. But a lot probably has to do with the fact that this Congress truly is behaving horribly.

I still can’t tell if his Super PAC is an amazing long-term performance art piece that he will use to help educate the country about the current state of politics, or if its success getting approved is just another sad verification of our political system’s rapid downward spiral into total corporate control.
