On the talking head shows today it’s the NRA and gun control, or if you prefer, gun safety; plus the continuing drama of the so-called Fiscal Cliff. Wayne LaPierre appears on Meet the Press. Host David Gregory tweeted a request for questions earlier this week, we’ll see how tough they are and he is in the interview. Culture of Truth will provide the definitive transcript of the encounter later today in The Bobblespeak Translations. Asa Hutchinson, LaPierre’s new-found henchman and head of the NRA’s new solution to the problem of gun massacres, the “National School Shield Program” (that does have a rather Luntzian appeal, doesn’t it?), appears on a couple shows as well. Not sure how a school shield of any kind would protect movie goers and mall shoppers, though. If only more of us had bigger guns…

Good morning. It’s Veterans Day today (if only the Great War had been the war to end all wars). Peace.

Don’t miss FDL Book Salon this afternoon, it’s a great one – Subversives: The FBI’s War on Student Radicals, and Reagan’s Rise to Power. And Lisa’s presenting the movie Brooklyn Castle, schoolkids rocking chess.

Of course there’s the post-election wrap-ups on the shows, and no doubt the opening salvo for 2016 (saints preserve us). Plus there’s a lot of fiscal cliffity stuff, the Village is concerned.

Today’s FDL Book Salon is Irregular Army, Marcy and bmaz will be trash talking on Virtually Speaking this evening, and Monday FDL Movie Night features Living Downstream, not to be missed.

You’ll be quite surprised to learn all the talk shows will talk about today is the 2012 Presidential race, they will wait until next week to start in on 2016.

There will be updates on the storm today on the shows, but no one booked to discuss climate change; there will be all kinds of talk this morning about the candidates, but nothing on the candidates’ views on climate change. But Bob Schieffer’s going to harp on Benghazi some more, prioritehs! Gotta keep feeding the trumped up controversies the right uses to keep their sheep corralled over there.
