Late Night: Post 9/11 Humor

By: Wednesday September 11, 2013 8:00 pm

I didn’t get serious about “politics” right after 9/11, but I did during the run up to the Iraq War. Because I work in PR and marketing, I understood the concept quoted by Bush White House chief of staff Andrew H. Card Jr: ”From a marketing point of view, you don’t introduce new products in August.”

I saw how serious disagreement with a war position was treated on TV and in the news. Our comedians were/are one of the few groups who challenged the “very serious people” who wanted a war.

Crow Gets Two Cats to Fight or Care2 gets Microsoft to Attack Google on Privacy Violations

By: Thursday August 29, 2013 6:00 pm

There is an old saying, “Let’s you and him go fight.” Setting two corporations up to fight each other to get a result that you want is pretty clever. We aren’t the only species that thinks so. Here is a video of a crow prodding two cats to fight each other, for entertainment.

Late Night: Preaching to the Choir and Teaching to the Choir. It’s Not a Waste of Time.

By: Wednesday August 21, 2013 8:00 pm

The other day I was complimenting masaccio on his great piece, Mass Consumption Created and Killed the Middle Class and my frustration with some of Mark Blyth’s arguments in the Book Salon on Austerity: History of a Dangerous Idea. I found one of his ideas lacking, the whole, “it’s not about the personal ‘individual moral failings of the bankers,’ but the system.” Masaccio pointed out that, “…there must be 50 posts here from me and Cynthia and others showing how to prosecute these crimes. Not worth much I agree, but there is moral culpability.”

Late Night: How Does Income Inequality Affect You Personally?

By: Saturday June 29, 2013 8:00 pm

I do wish the uber rich would go back to wearing those stylish top hats and carrying their money in bags with $ signs on them.

Is Jimmy Carter the Reincarnation of Eleanor Roosevelt? Exclusive Photo Proof!

By: Friday June 7, 2013 5:00 pm

I spotted this photo of Eleanor Roosevelt on her pistol permit for New York State. I noticed a similarity with Former President Jimmy Carter so I put his photo on the card next to her so you can see it too.

Her getting a pistol permit reminds me that some people hated her. Did they hate her for her ideas or just because she was a woman?

Which DC Lobbying Firms Are the Unemployed Hiring to Represent Them?

By: Wednesday May 22, 2013 3:00 pm

I’m really sick of how “the economy” is the stock market. It. Is. NOT. I also know that the constituents of unemployed and underemployed aren’t out there putting pressure on congress or the President.

Rehabilitating a Reputation. Watch Amy’s Baking Company Use Dick Cheney’s Methods on the Media

By: Monday May 20, 2013 6:30 pm

Have you watched Amy Bouzaglo of Amy’s Baking Company Bakery Boutique & Bistro on Gordan Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmare (Season 6 episode 16)? It was gripping TV which led to a social media disaster. At tomorrow’s press conference we’ll see how good her PR team from Rose+Moser+Allyn Public and Online Relations is at their job. Based on this early story in the Phoenix Business Journal I think they are going to be very successful. Why? Because they will be deploying techniques used by conservative politicians in the media.

9 Questions the Press Won’t Ask About Cumulus vs. a Flaming Gasbag

By: Friday May 10, 2013 1:25 pm

Have you noticed the Cumulus v. Rush stories in the press lately? What makes me crazy is thinking about all the questions that could be asked of the distributors, media corporations and the people who have made money or spent money on right wing media. Sadly they won’t be asked, although if they were asked I suspect the answers would range from, “No comment.” to, “We don’t have to tell you nothin’ Poindexter” and include lots of, ” We are a private company! Now drop and give me 20 stories on missing white women!”
