Online SHOP Exchanges Delayed for a Year

As part of a big holiday news dump the Obama administration announced that the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) exchanges will be completely delayed for a year. Small business will be able to buy exchange qualified coverage offline to try to qualify for the available tax credits, but the online web portal will not be working until November 2014 for coverage that starts in 2015.

Not Ready on Time: Three Major Provisions of Obamacare Delayed for at Least a Year

Despite almost fours years of preparation many significant provisions in the Affordable Care Act will not be ready for 2014. The Obama administration’s decision to delay the employer mandate until 2015 now makes it the third major coverage expansion provision that will not go into effect on time.
