The Khomeinis and Santorums of the world are not just impotent voyeurs. Their odd obsessions advance dangerous, inhuman policies that demean, discriminate and kill.

Racism and the Right |
| By: Glenn W. Smith Sunday April 1, 2012 9:30 am |
As disgusting as the Right’s ugly character attacks upon Trayvon Martin are, they are made even uglier by the cynical tactical thinking that motivates them. The Rush Limbaughs, Matt Drudges, and Michelle Malkins of the world know that blowing the racist dog whistle galvanizes white racist voters. And there are a lot of white racist voters, and all of them vote Republican.

Rock Bands in Uproar Over Song Usage on Limbaugh’s Show |
| By: Lisa Derrick Sunday March 11, 2012 8:35 am |
Several musicians and bands are more than a little annoyed that their songs are being used as atmospheric music on the Rush Limbaugh show, among them the band Rush, whose song “The Spirit of Radio” was playing in the background when the conservative windbag called Sandra Fluke “slut…prostitute.”
Limbaugh has since (kind of) apologized to Fluke, and has removed his remarks from his shows’ transcripts after over forty advertisers removed themselves from his show. Meanwhile Rush the band, Peter Gabriel, Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, and the Fabulous Thunderbirds all want their tunes gone from Rush the Limbaugh’s radio program.
Rush Doesn’t Need Your Stinking Ads! |

News Flash! 50 advertisers have pulled their ads from the Rush Limbaugh show. Updated list here.
Everyone wants to know, “What will happen next?” Some people want to know how to “fix the problem” (i.e. lost sponsors) others want to know, how can we make,”the problem” worse.
I am of the metaphorical mindset, “When your nemesis is drowning, throw him an anchor.
Rush Limbaugh Boycott Up to at Least 36 Advertisers |
| By: David Dayen Wednesday March 7, 2012 8:20 am |
I was somewhat dubious that this sponsor boycott of Rush Limbaugh for his days of misogynistic comments against Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke would be able to gain steam. But as of now, at least thirty-six advertisers have cancelled their ads for the show. Think Progress puts it at 39 advertisers. This includes large advertisers like Capital One.
The Chances of Driving Rush Limbaugh Off Commercial Radio |
| By: David Dayen Tuesday March 6, 2012 9:10 am |
Rush Limbaugh has faced criticism before. But the backlash at the activist feels new. At least eleven advertisers have stopped hawking their wares on his program. Two radio stations have dropped the show entirely. Republican leaders have (sorta) denounced him. Limbaugh has apologized and that didn’t stop the backlash.
Coming Up: The Right’s Revenge for Hurting Rush |
| By: spocko Monday March 5, 2012 7:15 pm |
People everywhere have written about Rush, his comments and the actions taken to convince advertisers to leave. I could analyze which actions will and won’t work with Rush but I won’t. I’d bore myself writing that, what I want to do is talk about what is happening right now and in the next few weeks so we can prepare and act.
