Rod Blagojevich Found Guilty on 17 of 20 Counts

So, former disgraced Governor Rod Blagojevich has been convicted of 17 of the 20 counts that were being retried after the previous jury deadlocked on the charges except the charge of lying to the FBI.

The main charge, that Gov. Rod tried to sell the seat of then president elect Obama to the people that could do the most for him is among the ones he has been found guilty of today.

All you Californians ought to be getting awfully nervous about Senate-Select Carly Fiorina about now. Because the lesson I take from the Rod Blagojevich verdict–he was found guilty of just one charge of lying to the FBI, while the jury remained deadlocked on 23 other charges–is that it’s okay to sell a Senate seat, so long as you don’t lie about it.

All of Rod Blagojevich’s promised fireworks were duds, most precluded by a strict trial judge, James Zagel, through granting prosecution motions to preclude. And then, a little over a week ago, came the crushing blow that even Hot Rod himself would not take the stand in his own defense — Blago has simply gone into that good night.

Rahm Emanuel’s horse trading with the Governor of Illinois while Rahm was a Congressman should come as no surprise. The only problems with this is that said Governor was Rod Blagojevich and the transactions will be aired out at trial while Rahm serves as White House Chief of Staff.
