Robert Earl Keen — Merry Christmas From The Family.
It’s December 1st and time to kick off the annual Late Late Night FDL pushback against all those traditional Christmas songs we have been hearing since Halloween. I’ve been scouring YouTube for the past couple of weeks trying to amass a collection of old and new non-traditional songs but I’m sure that I’ve missed some great tunes. Drop a link to your favorites in the comments and it just might get featured in a future LLN post.

The rhythms, melodies and lyrics of popular music can lift us out of the present, feed our desire for collective joy, and give us a private and comfortable escape. They can also enlighten hearts and minds. Song can celebrate our common humanity and bring us together for common purpose, as when civil rights marchers sang “We Shall Overcome.”
