Hard to believe a movie produced by the fertile mind of Rick Santorum would be a critical and commercial flop.

Santorum: Satan Controls Hollywood

By: Friday October 25, 2013 6:25 pm

Rick Santorum spat a frothy mouthful on the Trinity Broadcasting Network, plugging his first foray into film production, The Christmas Candle, due out this holiday season. The movie, from EchoLight Studio, is a period piece set in a Thomas Kinkade-esque village and tackles modernity vs (Christian) tradition as electricity and progressive thinking threaten the town’s visit from a Christmas angel.

Anti-Gay Activists Are Admitting Defeat, Even When They Think They Aren’t

You never used to hear Brian Brown, Rick Santorum, Ken Hutcherson or Chris Plante admit that they’re losing the national debate on marriage equality. They are now. Mr. Santorum openly admits it, while the rest try to hide it. However, if you listen closely you can hear that their remarks are premised in defeat, and their shrinking audiences consist of like-minded people who need no persuading.

The Dirty Secret

By: Thursday December 6, 2012 8:00 pm

It isn’t hard to conclude that Senate Republicans made colossal asses of themselves Tuesday, when they successfully (?) scuttled a UN treaty that essentially enshrines US law abroad, rather than the other way around they are always fearing. But considering their already shaky popularity with so much of America, the question is why it was so important for them to do so anyway.

How Low Can You Go? Senate GOP Tanks Disabilities Treaty, Siding with Paranoid Rick Santorum and Glenn Beck

By: Tuesday December 4, 2012 11:45 am

Rick Santorum, who has been leading the fight against ratification, appeared on Glenn Beck’s radio program when Beck ominously cited language from the convention proclaiming that “children with disabilities shall be registered immediately after birth” to suggest that something “really Orwellian or, quite honestly, fascistic from the Nazi days” was going on; an assessment with which Santorum heartily agreed.

Late Night: The Dumbing of America

By: Tuesday September 18, 2012 8:00 pm

This song by Randy Newman is a parody. Not the funniest parody, not super satirically biting, and minus the images it looses a lot. But sadly there are a number of commentors on YouTube that just don’t get that. Is America getting stupider? Both Clint “I figure if somebody’s dumb enough to ask me to go to a political convention and say something, they’re gonna have to take what they get” Eastwood and Rick Santorum seem to think a large percentage is.

Day 1, RNC: Random Thoughts

Some of these you may have picked up from my Twitter feed, which is where I’m likely to be camped for every day of this affair, but just in case you missed it…

Late Night FDL: Penis Envy

By: Thursday May 10, 2012 8:00 pm

Having read and heard a great deal about Romney’s Cranbrook hazing story today, at first I sort of agreed with Greg Sargent that it was an insignificant incident, happened when he was a teenager, etc. But I’d then have to ask Sargent and others: Did you really ever do anything like that?

Sex and the Pols

The Khomeinis and Santorums of the world are not just impotent voyeurs. Their odd obsessions advance dangerous, inhuman policies that demean, discriminate and kill.

TheoCon Shots Across the Bow of the SS Romney

By: Saturday April 14, 2012 9:03 am

The TheoCons have hauled out their cannons to fire warning shots at Mitt Romney. Ralph Reed, Richard Land, Tony Perkins, and a host of others are all pointing to Teh Awesome Power of the Religious Right, and warning Romney not to ignore them or tick them off.

So how will Mitt play this? Bow to their read-between-the-lines demands, or ignore them as whiners who backed a loser? Either way, the TheoCons are not done campaigning against Romney.
