On November 20th, 1996, Rahm Emanuel had an idea. Amidst the joy of the re-election of his friend and mentor, President Bill Clinton, Emanuel saw an opportunity for the president to help the Democratic Party maintain a perceived “parity” with the GOP on crime – record deportations. The revelation is contained in recently released documents from the Clinton Library after 12 years of being concealed.

The violence in Chicago under Mayor Rahm Emanuel is rapidly spiraling out of control. Last weekend, July 4th, Chicago suffered 82 shootings leading to 14 deaths reaffirming the city’s new nickname “Chiraq” – a combination of Chicago and Iraq. It was not the first holiday this year to be drenched in blood, Easter saw 45 shootings leading to nine deaths.

While Chicago was mired in so many shootings it received the nick name “Chiraq”, CNN was busy discussing the best camera angles to use with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s staff. According to emails obtained by The Chicago Tribune, staffers for Mayor Emanuel and CNN producers coordinated scenes for the “documentary” on Chicago called Chicagoland. The messages show the reportedly objective documentary devolving from an in-depth look at the city into a vanity exercise for its mayor.

A consulting firm tied to Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has been caught paying people to protest the Chicago Teachers Union. The firm, Resolute Consulting, worked on Rahm Emanuel’s 2002 Congressional campaign and is led by long time Emanuel friend Greg Goldner. Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s latest attempt to privatize education in Chicago is running into considerable opposition. The Chicago Teachers Union, joining up with concerned parents, has filed a lawsuit to halt the school closings the privatizer heavy Board of Education ordered. The lawsuit alleges Chicago Public Schools are not following their own guidelines for school closings.

A whistleblower lawsuit on behalf of two Chicago police officers has been filed in federal court. The suit alleges the officers faced retaliation after they discovered one of their fellow officers, Sergeant Ron Watts, was “robbing drug couriers and manufacturing a case against at least one confidential informant” at the Ida B. Wells public housing complex.
