Adamant about cultivating a global movement, Nadya Tolokonnikova and Masha Alyokhina of Pussy Riot voiced their support for #SolidarityWisconsin and their calls to have Attorney General Van Hollen drop the array of charges facing the protestors who have been fighting on behalf of worker’s rights since Governor Scott Walker stripped collective bargaining rights in 2011.

It’s a question gallerists ask themselves about how to keep their spaces relevant, and one that Pussy Riot fought with when they shoved their way onto that altar and spat pure punk into Putin’s face.

Sochi: Pussy Riot Attacked, Beaten With Whips by Police

Members of Pussy Riot were attacked by police with whips, then beaten, pushed, dragged and had their hair pulled as the punk performance group set up for an unpermitted performance in front of a mural in Sochi. There were plenty of cameras to capture the brutality of the special Cossack police, hired to handle drunks and rowdies.
