Jay Carney, a former writer for TIME Magazine and currenlty the spokesman for Vice President Biden, will replace Robert Gibbs as the White House Press Secretary, according to multiple sources.

Toby Harnden at the Telegraph says John King says that Gibbs got the boot because Daley didn’t want him around. I think I was one of the first to report on the pending White House shake-up back on December 9 on MSNBC, and again on FDL on December 20. But you didn’t have to be exceptionally wired in to see that the President had lost confidence in Gibbs.

Splitting the baby here, Maureen thinks Bobby Gibbs needs to be promoted, not fired, since he’s always wanted to be a counselor to the president, bonding as they did during the campaign over sports and missing their families.

Maybe Gibbs should stop and revisit some of those campaign speeches and ask himself if the guy in the oval office looks like the guy on the campaign trail. He might figure out why people are upset, and it’s not just the “professional left.” According to Gallup, Obama’s approval ratings among Hispanics was 73% in January of 2010 and is now at 54%. That’s largely over his failure to fulfill the promises he made about immigration.
Are they the “professional left” too?
