Rise & Shine! Who made the coffee?

Another Sunday focused on race and policing. Again, it’s sad many of these guests are only invited when race is the topic, they are so much more than the color of their skin.

Good morning, amigo mios.

A lot of talk today about Ferguson MO, which is good. Too bad some of these guests aren’t invited on to talk about more than race-related issues. Also, who’s interested in Rudy Guiliani’s take anyway?

CNN’s Reliable Sources is covering the happenings in Ferguson MO, Melissa Harris-Perry hasn’t posted her syllabus yet but she’ll be covering that as well. Sen. Al Franken visits Candy Crowley to talk net neutrality, what he calls “the free speech issue of our time.” There’s also a net neutrality segment on CSPAN’s Washington Journal, there should be more. Otherwise it’s The President vs the GOP – which has been going on since January 20, 2009 as you all know. Also the fighting ISIS. Blowback, it’s a bitch. If only we went solar+ years ago, the world would be a better place all over.

Buenos Dias.

Bob Schieffer interviews President Obama in the Oval Office and then has George W. Bush on to sell his book about his father. This seems like some kind of protocol offense to me.

Good morning, who scrambled the eggs?

Ebola, Ebola, Ebola. We won’t have CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden to kick around today, but Dr. Anthony Fauci does the Full Ginsburg for the administration. Marsha Blackburn (CBS) and Ted Cruz (CNN) think we are at real risk from Ebola-laden illegal West Africans sneakily making their way to Mexico (and Canada, even sneakilyer) to swarm our borders and kill us all with their influenza’d ebolas; these are not serious people to discuss the merits of a travel ban from the affected West African countries. Interestingly, Fox News booked Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA) for a more sensible point of view, as well as Dr. Michael Osterholm who is Director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota. Osterholm rightly believes the urgency is in West Africa. Bob Schieffer did schedule a knowledgeable group of medical people for his roundtable.

Good morning.

Ebola tops all all the talk shows this morning now that it’s reached America. I’m firmly in the travel restrictions camp for people coming from affected/infected areas. As evidenced in Dallas this week, we are not prepared to handle an outbreak. We don’t even know what to do with the medical waste, but don’t worry, we’re on it. Watching officials bumbling and fumbling and stumbling around does not inspire confidence, or trust. And that trust and confidence is essential because there will be other cases. Now that you’ve seen us in action, do you think we can contain them? “Don’t worry, I got this,” yeah right.
