Echoing Reagan Years, House GOP Classifies Pizza As Vegetable to Cut School Lunch Funds

I remember all too well the food served in public schools back in the day. In high school, the main course offerings were, um, basic: “Lasagna” (perfect square, little piece of bread to go with it), Salisbury “steak”, Filet-o-”fish”, and yes, a perfectly rectangular piece of pizza. I also recall actual vegetables, like green beans and salad (nondescript iceberg lettuce with cherry tomatoes).

For two days now, hundreds of protesters have occupied Zuccotti Park, a private park in and around Wall Street, as part of Occupy Wall Street. The protesters intended to legally assemble and demonstrate on the public sidewalks on Wall Street, but the New York Police Department (NYPD) put up blockades before the planned occupation began preventing any protests from happening.

Late Night FDL: Wisconsin Pizza on the Farm

There’s a farm outside of Stockholm, Wisconsin — a jewel of a Mississippi River town just an hour or so from the Twin Cities — that does something I don’t think any other farm in America does.

Every Tuesday evening from March to around Thanksgiving, from 4:30 to 8:00, they turn their farm into a pizzeria, complete with brick oven.
