Peter Peterson’s new service, the Fiscal Times, had a news article in the Washington Post telling readers that people like Peterson who believe that it is urgent to cut Social Security and Medicare are non-ideological, in contrast to the people who think it is important to defend programs on which the vast majority of workers will depend in their retirement.

The Administration has rather bizarrely stuck deficit reduction into the national security strategy while ignoring several equally–probably more–important issues that the ascendancy of the deficit hawks has led this country to neglect. Which is just one more indication of how dangerous and counterproductive the deficit scolds are to this country

The Pete Peterson Institute has been promoting deficit hysteria as part of a campaign to cripple Social Security and Medicare. It used the Washington Post to run Institute propaganda and numerous deficit hysteria “articles” as front page news. Now CNN is giving Peterson’s crowd two hours of free air time this weekend to give us more of the propaganda. Time to call out CNN.
