A few day’s ago, the New York Times reported that documents unveiled in Milwaukee diocese bankruptcy proceedings revealed that then Timothy ArchBishop Dolan, now Cardinal in New York had, while he was the ArchBishop in Milwaukee, approved payments of $20,000 each to priests accused of molesting kids. The payments were made in conjunction with the priests’ agreements to quietly leave the priesthood. The payments were charity, which is apparently not needed elsewhere.

The revelation that Catholic Church sex scandal cables were sent to Wikileaks sort of makes you wonder why the State Department is discussing what the Vatican thinks about its pedophile priests, doesn’t it? Unless of course our government is tapping the Pope to keep tracks on the Church’s pedophiles…

The still unfolding horrors of pedophile priests and Church coverups now includes the Pope himself, for at least the period in which Cardinal Ratzinger was the head of the Church’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. But we’ve seen this story before.
