And what’s not to love — she mentioned in a shout-out my much-loved (often-derided) fave band Journey.

Wow – now this is really a “we’re not worthy” moment. Received a call from the Melissa Harris-Perry show on MSNBC on Friday. She is going to do a feature on the close of Pam’s House Blend at the end of the show on Sunday.

Math is hard, but basically, by cutting $73 million to Planned Parenthood, Texas will now have to spend an additional $200 million underwriting the cost of caring for almost 24,000 unplanned babies. And then there’s the cost of medications for sexually transmitted diseases–Texas has the highest rate of uninsured Americans in the United States (and a woefully weak Medicaid system facing a shortfall), so really what will happen then? Will Texas celebrate the arrival The Great Satan in the form of Obamacare?

Friend of the Blend activist Jacob Tobia of Duke, who was there with fellow students representing the sentiments of Duke and UNC student bodies, intended to position himself at the front of the room to hand the letter to the President. I spoke with him outside while waiting in line to enter the White House. I asked him about his plan.

I was so fortunate to be able to personally thank NAACP President and CEO Ben Jealous today at Netroots Nation today for his long-time leadership on marriage equality that resulted in the civil rights organization’s recent public statement for marriage equality. Thank you Ben (and the rest of the NAACP board)!

These guys are a regular Dear Abby column for the misguided homosexual, aren’t they? Peter LaBarbera has made a career out of playing the pious, family-focused anti-gay activist at the grade Z level, all while
trolling going “undercover” to research what he believes is mainstream gay society at events like International Mr. Leather, and S&M culture events that plenty of heterosexuals also attend (his skills of observation must be pretty weak).

It’s going to be a big day on FDL. Pam’s House Blend officially joins us starting today, I’ll be in court with Lt. Dan Choi who is being put on trial by the Justice Department for protesting in front of the White House last November, and Bill McKibben will be coming to court to support Dan after day 10 of the Tar Sands sit-ins conclude. I can’t have electronic devices in the court room but I’ll be posting updates on Twitter and here at FDL as I can throughout the day.

I am using tonight’s Late Night post for a point of personal privilege, because I have been so patient and so quiet for so long. Some months ago, I pointed Jane Hamsher to a post Pam Spaulding published about issues with her blog (Pam’s House Blend) and asked if she, Jane, thought there was a place for Pam in our bloghouse. Luckily, Jane agreed that this would be a swell fit and deputized me to find out if Pam would be interested in making her home here with us.
