Many of the design principles for the insurance market exchanges in the Affordable Care Act were based on unproven, discredited, and frankly absurd conservative notions about the economagic of free markets. But too many liberals refused to acknowledge this until they saw Republicans like Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney make the same arguments.

The op-ed “Obamacare to the Rescue” in the LA Times by Spike Dolomite Ward has been making the rounds among Democratic bloggers. Ms. Ward was an uninsured, disappointed Obama supporter until she got cancer. Luckily, Ward was one of a few thousand Americans able to find, qualify for and afford the Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan created by the new health care law. But millions were left out for now.

Just last week, the 34-nation Organization for Economic Cooperation Development (OECD) released the results of its most recent study of the health care systems in the 40 counties considered to be “developed.” It came as no surprise to see that the U.S. health care system—if we can even call it a system—is still by far the most expensive on the planet.
We spend two-and-a-half times more on health care per person than the OECD average.
After reading Dr. John Geyman’s latest book, Breaking Point—How the Primary Care Crisis Endangers the Lives of Americans, I now understand why and how we have sunk so low.
Supreme Court to Hear Health Care Reform Case |

In a widely expected move the Supreme Court today decided that it will review the constitutionality of the new Affordable Care Act law and its requirement that all Americans carry health insurance. A finally ruling from the Supreme Court will likely come in June, just a few months before the 2012 general election.

While Ohio was soundly rejecting Ohio’s anti-union SB5 it was passing, by 65.6 percent to 34.4 percent an amendment deliberately written so that voters would view voting for it as a way to reject of the individual mandate in “Obamacare.” The mandate remains extremely unpopular, even in an arguably liberal-leaning election.

A panel for the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia has affirmed a lower court ruling that the Affordable Care Act is constitutional. In a 2-1 decision the Appeals Court concluded that the commerce clause does give Congress the power to make individuals obtain health insurance.

The American people deserve to know the truth that our politicians can actually fulfill many of their promises and that they are simply choosing not to.
