It seems the more schools take up the NRA’s advice to arm teachers and other school employees the more unsafe the school becomes. First it was a firearms instructor leaving his gun in the student’s bathroom and now a school employee has been accidentally shot while preparing to implement the NRA’s solution to school shootings.

Despite NRA’s Urging Survey Shows Teachers Oppose More Guns In Classroom |

NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre’s response to the Newtown school shooting was a plan to bring more guns into schools claiming only a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with a gun. The plan was met with a mix of ridicule and skepticism but the NRA doubled down on the plan even to the point of launching an ad campaign that targeted President Obama’s children, asserting that Obama’s lack of support for armed guards at schools was hypocritical given that his children were protected by armed secret service agents.
NRA Claims Obama’s Plan Will Lead To Gun Confiscations |
| By: DSWright Wednesday February 13, 2013 8:19 am |
In a video that was designed to go live around the time of President Obama’s State Of the Union, the NRA asserted that the ultimate goal of the Obama Administration’s gun control policies was to confiscate guns.
Civilians Gunned-Down in LAPD’s Frantic Manhunt for Alleged Cop-Killer Chris Dorner |

At first glance it seemed excessive, even for the LAPD. Heavily armed protective details – on the look-out for a fugitive cop killer bent on revenge – unleashed a barrage of bullets on not just one, not two, but three innocent civilians in two separate incidents. The fact that the civilians were female, and could not possibly have been mistaken for the big, black, burly male suspect, has to have raised concern among Los Angelenos, particularly if they drive a blue pickup truck.
If their paranoia wasn’t so sickening, it would at least be entertaining |

Well this weekend we found that the NRA has one more thing in common with Richard Nixon, an enemies list.

Former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre both testified before the Senate yesterday on gun regulation. Giffords made a plea for the government to act now before more die needlessly while LaPierre claimed enforcing existing gun laws would suffice.
New Armed Guard Leaves Gun in Student Bathroom |

The hits keep on coming for the NRA.
Responding to the Sandy Hook School shooting Wayne LaPierre, CEO of the NRA, proposed a program to immediately put armed guards in every school. LaPierre placed an emphasis on getting “good guys” with guns inside schools as soon as possible.
A charter school (of course) followed the NRA’s advice and hired a firearms instructor to help protect their students.
It didn’t work out.

They say that only the good die young. In the short time he lived, it was given to Aaron Swartz to define the principal problem facing public life in the United States of America:
“If it was conventional wisdom that a bunch of unelected bankers looking out for rich people were the reason everyone was out of work, politicians would be forced to explain to angry voters why we had this crazy system and might actually consider doing something about it.” – The late Aaron Swartz
Obama Mostly Ignored Movies and Video Games in Gun Address |
| By: Jon Walker Thursday January 17, 2013 1:43 pm |
One of the aspects about President Obama’s address on guns that I don’t feel got much attention is what he didn’t say. For the most part Obama didn’t talk about violent movies, TV show,s or video games. The single reference in his entire speech to violent media was a call for some funding to study the impact of violent video games.
