The prison banking industry is really taking off with an assortment of small time players on the state level snatching all the taxpayer and prisoner money they can. But one of the Too Big To Fail Wall Street banks has it locked up on the federal level. And surprise surprise they have friends at Treasury ready to give them special deals.

 

A Peek at Secretive Firm Behind Failing “Gorgon Stare” Surveillance Technology

Ellen Nakashima reports in the Washington Post that the “Gorgon Stare” surveillance technology that was first discussed in early January now appears to be failing to meet its design specifications but still is likely to be deployed to Afghanistan late this winter. Nakasihima’s report notes that the technology is being developed by Sierra Nevada Corporation, which has headquarters in Sparks, Nevada.
