There is one very small piece of sorta good news for Mitt Romney buried in the last wave of polling showing Newt Gingrich leading in almost every state. Romney does slightly better against President Obama in the key swing states.

The Republican base seems to have recently fallen in love with Gingrich but most everyone else still really dislikes the man. I suspect the GOP primary will depend on whether Republican primary voters realize this fact and/or care that their potential standard bearer is so unpopular with the rest of the country.

There is now a near perfectly even four way split between Herman Cain, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich in the Republican Iowa Caucus, according to the most recent Bloomberg poll.
