Rainbow flags were flown at half-staff in the Netherlands on Sunday in protest of Russia’s draconian anti-gay policies. The protest was prompted by the expected arrival on Monday of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who will be in the Netherlands to discuss trade and other issues with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

Uruguay May Legalize Marijuana

The South American country of Uruguay may fully legalize marijuana in the country. A new bill that should soon be sent to the legislature would legalize, highly regulate, and tax cannabis. Marijuana would be sold but only by the government, similar to how some Nordic countries and several states in the USA control liquor sales.

Reminder: The Netherlands Isn’t a Lawless Hellscape

Last week I visited the Netherlands. I’m happy to report the country isn’t a lawless hellscape. In fact, it’s a lovely place. Apparently, it hasn’t been overrun with gangs of dangerous drug addicts nor has it become a crime ridden anarchistic wasteland where the only law is the thunderdome. Amazingly, none of these horrible things have happened to this small country, even though it has openly allowed the use and commercial sale of cannabis for decades.
