While the NFL has gotten the lion’s share of publicity recently, the NBA and Major League Baseball are not immune from the problems. Sports Illustrated did this article about the NBA Domestic Violence policy a couple of days ago. It looks like Major League Baseball has started making some attempts at updating their policy as well, going from this article in July decrying their efforts to this from a couple of weeks ago on Joe Torre’s efforts to formulate a new policy for MLB.

Major League Baseball in 2014 is a big business. Projected revenues for this season are for over $9 Billion dollars. There are 30 teams, fifteen each in the National and American Leagues. Minimum salaries for players are $500,000 and the average salary is $3.39M. Players travel on chartered jets and get mandatory off days every couple of weeks.
Edward Achorn in his new book The Summer of Beer and Whiskey takes us back 131 years when Major League Baseball was a far different world.

It will be time enough tomorrow to start wondering and worrying about how the corporatist SCOTUS will manage to screw us in decisions when they open their new session on Monday.
