Come Saturday Morning: Too Big to Fail, Jail – or Even Pay Taxes?

By: Phoenix Woman Saturday January 21, 2012 6:45 am

In these hard times — caused by Wall Street bubbles and unregulated greed — it’s more than a little bile-inducing to see of the worst perps not only skate on jail time or even paying to fix the messes they helped create, but to steal some more money out of the till, money that could have gone to schools, highways, libraries, and actual job creation the way Franklin Delano Roosevelt did it lo these many years ago.

That’s why Minnesotans for a Fair Economy and several other local groups are staging a Rally and March for the 99% this coming Tuesday, January 24.

Foreclosures, Not Protesters, Costing Hennepin County Millions (and America, Billions – if Not Trillions)

One of the memes the 1% crowd has been pushing, both locally and nationally, has been The Cost To The Taxpayer of the protests — usually in the form of utterly unnecessary (and local-economy-hurting) barricades, police presence, and surveillance of groups of largely self-disciplined and peaceful protesters — costs that one almost never sees tallied in discussions of, say, policing of sporting events such as the Minnesota Lynx’ win of the WNBA championship.

But it’s the price of foreclosures and bank bailouts that’s really costing the taxpayer.
