Marion Berry (D-AR) is unlikely vote for the Senate health care bill in the House, but he has recently submitted is own, less comprehensive health care bill. Primarily, what it does is fix the problems with the Medicare Part D program created by former Republican Rep. Billy Tauzin, which Democrats have been promising to fix for years. That is until President Obama promised now PhRMA lobbyist Billy Tauzin to not fix Medicare Part D as part of health care reform.

One thing that has been eating away at me throughout this whole health care debate is the incredible hypocrisy and role reversal of both political parties compared to the Medicare Part D debate. The basic, highly corrupt design of the Senate health care bill is the same as the highly corrupt design as the Medicare Part D program.

The Congress and the President have promised to fix the doughnut hole in the new health care bill, but how do you fix the doughnut hole by making it worse for several years before you can make it better? Is this change we can believe in?

Is it possible that 31 Senators in the Democratic Caucus traded away $106 billion dollars in savings for consumers — and $19 for the federal budget according to CBO — for an empty promise that hasn’t even been agreed to?
