Analysis: Massachusetts Should Be a Primary Target for Future Marijuana Legalization Efforts

Now that voters in Washington State and Colorado have approved marijuana legalization the obvious question is, what is next step for the reform community? What states are likely to be good targets for similar initiative campaigns in the 2014 or 2016 election?


Majority of Massachusetts Voters Supports Marijuana Legalization

A solid majority — 58 percent– of Massachusetts voters support marijuana legalization according to the first professional poll sponsored by MassCann/NORML. The poll also demonstrates the importance of framing. If legal marijuana is going to be taxed and regulated in a manner similar to alcohol, people become more supportive of the idea.
