How to Spend Over $4 Million Fighting Marriage Equality, Lose and Humiliate Yourself in the Process

By: Tuesday March 25, 2014 6:12 pm

University of Texas (Austin) professor Mark Regnerus and all of the other so-called experts called by the state of Michigan to defend its ban on marriage equality was humiliated during the judicial overturning of that law but I wouldn’t worry about their feelings.

As it turns out, they were all well compensated.

Judicial Sarcasm Takes Down Michigan’s Anti-Marriage Equality Amendment

By: Saturday March 22, 2014 9:05 am

As I’ve watched the series of marriage equality cases move forward, I’m struck by how each ruling has its own flavor. Mark Cady in Iowa wrote movingly about the illogic of restricting marriage while proclaiming equal protection. Vaughn Walker in California was meticulous in getting facts into the record and weaving together the legal logic to take down Prop 8. Arenda Wright Allen in Virginia was powerful in her use of Loving v Virginia to lift up the role of the courts to forge justice “from fires of indignities and prejudices suffered”. Now comes Judge Bernard Friedman of the US Southern District of Michigan, who brought a sense of wit and sarcasm to bear on the target-rich environment of those opposed to marriage equality in the case of Deboer v Snyder.

It’s not just the ruling striking down Michigan’s Marriage Amendment [MMA] that makes me happy, but the withering way in which Friedman took on the arguments presented by the defendants. . .

Anti-Gay Groups and Their Supporters Have a Disturbing History of Distorting Scientific Research

By: Monday March 10, 2014 7:15 pm

This so-called culture war over lgbt equality is so immersed in the religious angle and the “personal story” angle that there is scarcely attention paid to how anti-gay groups make attempts at either distorting scientific research or relying on junk science in order to denigrate the lgbt community.

Michigan’s ‘Expert Witness’ Mark Regnerus Faces Intense Media Scrutiny for Discredited Study

By: Thursday March 6, 2014 10:57 am

To say that things don’t look good for discredited University of Texas professor Mark Regnerus would be an understatement. Apparently the paradox of your own university denouncing your work while at the same time you are testifying in a trial as an “expert witness” seems to be an angle which has the media humming.

Southern Poverty Law Center Calls Out Anti-Gay Parenting Study, Its Author in Blistering Interview

By: Thursday May 30, 2013 6:53 am

In the newest issue of its Intelligence Report, the Southern Poverty Law Center calls out Mark Regnerus, the author of the controversial and fraudulent study put out last year which claimed that same-sex households are inferior to heterosexual households. To say this piece is brutal would be an understatement.

American Sociological Association Calls Out, Obliterates Anti-Gay Parenting Study

By: Friday March 1, 2013 7:45 am

Obscured by the fact that the Obama Administration submitted a brief against Prop 8 is the brief the American Sociological Association submitted. This is a shame because I think in many ways, ASA’s brief can be seen as just as, if not, more significant.

ASA’s brief destroys claims made that same-sex households are inferior when it comes to raising children, which is a major argument for those pushing Prop 8.

Fraudulent Anti-Gay Parenting Study Now Used to Create Link Between Watching Porno, Marriage Equality Support

By: Friday December 21, 2012 2:58 pm

How is this for a swift attempt to kick the gay community in the face? Not only is Mark Regnerus attempting to use his fraudulent study on gay parenting to attack same-sex families, but apparently he is now attempting to create a link between pornography and marriage equality support from information taken from the same study.
