Now that this new law has been signed, medical marijuana is legal in all of New England.

It looks like medical marijuana may finally be coming to New Hampshire after several years of false starts and hard fought legislative battles. On Thursday, the New Hampshire senate approved the use of marijuana for therapeutic purposes. In a bipartisan vote of 18 yea to 6 nay the Senate adopted an amended version of HB 573, which has previously been approved by the House.

The voters of New Hampshire seem prepared to embrace their “Live Free or Die” motto when it comes to marijuana reform. A new Public Policy Polling survey for MPP found that a majority of voters in the state think marijuana should be legalized for adults.

In a disappointing but expected move yesterday, New Hampshire governor John Lynch vetoed a bill that would have legalized medical marijuana in the state. Lynch had vetoed a similar medical marijuana bill back in 2009.
