No matter how many times we were beaten and Maggie Gallagher or Brian Brown would mock us, we never gave up. We – in the words of a famous pro wrestler whom I adore – “sweat, bleed, and paid the price.” And now, we are where we need to be. Not where we want to be, but at a much better place than where we were.

One of the most annoying qualities of National Organization for Marriage former head Maggie Gallagher is how pathetically transparent she is when it comes to lying.

Homo-hatin’ Maggie Gallagher is hanging it up, and by ‘hanging it up’ I mean that Universal Uclick is “retiring her column“, and by ‘retiring her column’ they mean they can’t find anyone who wants to pay for the right to run Gallagher’s column anymore.

The timing of National Organization for Marriage’s endorsement of Mitt Romney couldn’t have come at a worse time. Mittens has to face questions about accepting the support of a race-baiting anti-LGBT organization — as well as signing its hateful pledge to court the fundies.

The fight for marriage for gays and lesbians is gaining support in every state and even among prominent Republicans, and the National Organization for Marrriage rallies this summer have galvanized marriage equality advocates.

So, yes — victory. But hate is strong. It may not have prevailed today, but we can certainly count on its being around for a while. Stay safe out there, people: there’s nothing like a successful court battle to bring out the bashers and haters lurking in the underbelly of the American psyche.
