At the national conference of NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) here at the Governor Hotel, in Portland Oregon, our own Michael Whitney is on a panel this morning to talk about the marijuana legalization campaign.

Today, the House EdLabor Committee, chaired by Rep. George Miller, is hosting a hearing called “Worker Health and Safety from the Oil Rig to Shoreline.” The hearing will explore what protections are in place for oil rig workers, what went wrong on the Deepwater Horizon, and how to protect cleanup workers in the Gulf Coast for BP’s oil disaster.

At this hour, the President will sign the health care legislation in the East Room of the White House.

The House just passed the Senate health care bill by a vote of 219-212. It will soon be signed into law. Now they have moved on to the reconciliation measure which contains some “fixes” to health care bill and student loan reform.

Welcome to part five of the liveblog on the House of Representative’s health insurance reform vote (live on C-Span). With the announcement of a deal with Bart Stupak (D-MI) it seems very likely that the bill will pass.
