Sen. John McCain has signed on to Lindsey Graham’s plan to slow down every confirmation over the issue of Benghazi, even the confirmation of people who’s positions have nothing to do with security or foreign policy.

It doesn’t matter if it is a nominee for a judicial opening, a position to oversee federal student loans, or an undersecretary of agricultural. Graham is going to tie up everything in the executive branch even if it has zero relationship to Libya or even foreign policy. This is not how a sane government operates and no other democracy allows this nonsense.

Yesterday it was noted that Iran’s government was open to negotiations and compromises in its nuclear program vis-a-vis the United States — this, of course, is potentially bad news to America’s only “serious” people — aspiring war criminals.

Now that the Senate has finally passed comprehensive immigration reform the Republican Party has been put at a crossroads. The Republican-controlled House can either pass some version of the law as the first step in a long process of repairing relationships with the fastest growing minority group in the country, or they can stick with the same Caucasian-focused strategy they have been using.

During the press conference after Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was arrested and taken to a hospital seriously injured, FBI Special Agent in Charge Rick Deslauriers told reporters the communities of Boston, Cambridge, Watertown and other cities could “breathe a sigh of relief knowing” there was “no longer a threat to our personal safety and to our communities.” Boston Police Department Commissioner Ed Davis also stated, “I think based upon our investigation at this point in time, the citizens of the city Boston and this area can be confident that the threat has been removed.”
