Lindsey Graham Tried to Bully NLRB Before Boeing Complaint

By: David Dayen Thursday November 10, 2011 8:04 am

Sen. Lindsey Graham openly threatened the National Labor Relations Board before they filed a complaint against Boeing for illegally moving their plant from Washington state to South Carolina, according to notes taken by the NLRB’s general counsel, Lafe Solomon.

Yes, pity the poor “Southern White Guy”, who has been more set upon in history, amongst at least white men of the South, than the Southern White Male? Just ask them.

Boehner Puts Up Firewall to China Currency Bill

By: David Dayen Thursday October 6, 2011 5:30 pm

It was already clear that the House GOP wanted no part of the China currency manipulation bill working its way through the Senate, but John Boehner clinched it the other day, calling it “pretty dangerous” for lawmakers to crack down on China and their artificial lowering of the price of their exports. The Republican leadership even forced Hal Rogers, the chair of the Appropriations Committee, to take his name off the discharge petition trying to force a vote on the bill to the floor, after he initially signed it. There are currently a majority of co-sponsors for the legislation in the House, but only 175 signers of the petition after Rogers took his name off.

Here Is Class Warfare

By: dakine01 Monday September 19, 2011 7:15 pm

So apparently, the phrase of the week from Republicans is “Class Warfare!” as a response to President Obama’s proposal for a new Millionaire’s Minimum Tax. Paul Ryan and Lindsey Graham both used the phrase yesterday on the Bobble head shows.

Bill to Cancel Oil Subsidies Will Fail Later Today

By: David Dayen Tuesday May 17, 2011 2:15 pm

Let me save you the trouble of turning on C-SPAN2 and missing the Blue Plate special at the Olympia Diner. The motion will fail on a party-line vote. Even Senate Republicans who previously expressed a willingness to end oil subsidies will stick with Mitch McConnell and Team R on this one.

Making Guantanamo Permanent, and Other Portents

By: Jeff Kaye Thursday May 12, 2011 6:00 am

A motley crew of Senate Republicans, joined by Sen. Lieberman, have introduced a bill to make Guantanamo a permanent “terrorist” prison. Once upon a time, this could have been dismissed as GOP posturing. But recent events suggest this is more likely a harbinger of the future fate of the US Naval prison, as President Obama has already pronounced that he will support indefinite detention of prisoners based on unchallenged U.S. executive fiat.

CBO Score of Budget Deal Could Make House Passage Difficult

By: David Dayen Thursday April 14, 2011 6:50 am

The GOP House leadership is really pissed at Tim Pawlenty for trying to derail the deal, and this report will only anger them further. Boehner’s whip operation is definitely nervous and trying to nail down the last few votes.
