Penguin Sweaters: The Internet Yarn Keeps Spinning

Knitting sweaters for penguins, a perfect storm of squee and awww that hits every hipster button: Cute widdle birds, knitting, helping some faraway land during an environmental disaster, and social media. Except the sweaters don’t get put on the birds; they are used for fundraising.

It’s possibly one of the best yarns that the internet has even spun.

The dogs and I have a fire going in the fireplace, we’re watching the Macy’s parade, and I’m working on a pair of mittens worn by Kristen Stewart in possibly the stupidest movie of all time, Twilight. What’s your hobby, and how are you faring this fine Thanksgiving day?

The FDL community is an uncommonly close-knit group of very disparate people from so many different backgrounds and with such diverse and complementary skills and abilities, something like a very complicated Fair Isle pattern, or maybe a fisherman’s sweater with many complicated cables.
