What is unbelievable is that there really is no excuse for supporting science-free brainwashing that has been perpetrated on children younger than 18 by “therapists” trying to change their sexual orientation, many seeking to “pray away the gay” and other psychologically damaging tactics. The Golden State law is the first of its kind in the nation and is is not surprising that the professional anti-gays are right out of the box challenging the law.

Mat Staver and these charlatans are only looking for attention. I can’t fathom that they want to take on the merits of conversion/reparative therapy — long discredited — to “pray away the gay.” But as LGBT rights advance, groups like Liberty Counsel have fewer opportunities to put on their dog and pony show to raise cash.

The Obama Administration has chosen not to defend the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act, so NOM wants the Administration to pick up costs for Boehner’s own DOMA defense team’s expenses, including their use of anti-gay junk science.
