Judith Miller, Operative and Proud of It

By: Sunday June 22, 2014 12:40 pm

So that deservedly disgraced dingbat, Judith Miller, is rising up yet again (with assistance from her respectable-media allies who don’t want to admit they screwed up when they backed the worst US action of the past twenty years) from the neocon fever swamps in the hopes of doing yet more violence to the historical record.

Too bad for her that some of us have memories as well as search engines.

Former NYPD Head of Intelligence Analysis Uses Boston Bombing to Revive ‘Radicalization’ Report He Co-Authored

By: Monday April 29, 2013 2:55 pm

In the aftermath of the Boston bombing, US media organizations have been providing a platform to a former New York Police Department head of intelligence analyst and co-author of a heavily critiqued and rejected report on the radicalization of Muslims in the West. He has been on CNN and Fox News sharing his views and was also quoted by Judith Miller, former New York Times journalist who had a story celebrating the NYPD published by the Wall Street Journal.

Cable news appearances by Mitchell Silber, now a managing director for K2 Intelligence, have focused on what he thinks the attack by Dhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, two ethnic Chechen Muslims who immigrated to America, shows about “homegrown terrorism.”

Bill Keller: New York Times Published Bad, Unsourced, Unskeptical Stories in Run Up to Iraq War

So Noam Chomsky won the argument. Or so, in essence, says former Executive Editor of the New York Times Bill Keller. Keller admits in the MSNBC Special on the media coverage of the run up to the Iraq War that the New York Times became a propaganda arm for war interests within the government.

NSA Whistleblower Thomas Drake on The Daily Show

By: Tuesday August 7, 2012 7:30 am

A “Daily Show” clip with correspondent Jason Jones aired last night on “super spy” Thomas Drake, who worked for the National Security Agency as an analyst until he was ultimately charged as “a spy” under the Espionage Act for blowing the whistle on the NSA. The segment nicely plays up the fact he did not commit espionage and, instead, was a “cost-benefit analysis expert,” who had examined two intelligence gathering programs and decided one was cheaper and would lead to less fraud, waste, abuse and illegalities.

McClatchy Points Out Key FBI Failure in Amerithrax Investigation

By: Thursday April 21, 2011 7:50 am

In an article published Wednesday evening on their website, McClatchy points out yet another failing in the FBI’s Amerithrax investigation of the 2001 anthrax attacks that killed five people. The article focuses on the fact that the FBI was able to get a clear genetic fingerprint of a bacterial contaminant that was found in the attack material mailed to the New York Post and to Tom Brokaw (but not to either Senator Daschle or Senator Leahy). This contaminant, Bacillus subtilis, is used in some cases by weapons laboratories as an anthrax simulant, because its behavior in culture and in drying the spores is very similar to Bacillus anthracis but it is easier to handle because it is not pathogenic. I covered the FBI’s failure to link this B. subtilis contaminant to Ivins in this diary in February of 2010.

Let us end the year with some schadenfreude

Apparently there is one right-winger punished over pushing the Iraq War…naturally it’s a woman.
