When smart policies that reduce the deficit with 60-70% support are not being adopted the issue isn’t messaging, it is something deeper.

Given the polling, political energy, and demographic changes there is no doubt that in the near future Oregon will legalize marijuana. If activists don’t legalized it with a successful ballot initiative campaign this year, they are almost guaranteed to achieve victory in 2016 or 2018.
Governor John Kitzhaber (D) accepts this inescapable fact and told The Oregonian he thinks it would smart if the state legislature would preemptively adopt their own legalization proposal to put before voters.

An Oregon bill that would allow the creation of state regulated medical marijuana dispensaries is now heading Gov. John Kitzhaber’s (D) desk. The governor has not yet said how he plans to proceed.

RealtyTrac data shows that judicial foreclosure states, where the integrity of the documents is most acute, experienced a spike in foreclosure filings over these three months. The non-judicial foreclosure states have seen falling filings, perhaps correlated to the falling unemployment rate, perhaps correlated to not much. The full effect of the settlement has yet to be seen.

Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber, M.D., in an announcement today at the state capital, said he will put a temporary reprieve on executions in the state, including the pending execution of Gary Haugen, convicted of two murders in 1981 and 2003. The governor, in an unexpected addendum to his announcement regarding Haugen, also said he will not sign any death warrants while in office.
