American Enterprise Institute Wants To Fix The Debt And Also Go To War In Ukraine

By: Tuesday February 25, 2014 6:40 am

Corporate think tank The American Enterprise Institute seems confused as to how budgets work. On the one hand AEI can not stop complaining about government spending and the dangers of debt. But on the other hand, they want unbridled militancy in American foreign policy. The problem of course is that wars, contrary to what AEI Scholar Paul Wolfowitz claimed about Iraq, do not pay for themselves. Wars are very expensive. But that did not stop AEI from promoting a piece by warmonger extraordinaire John Bolton who claimed President Obama was showing isolationism by not wading into a rhetorical battle with Russia and implementing an agreement that could suck America into a war in the Ukraine.

At the UN Thursday, Ambassador Susan Rice Redeemed Herself With the Far Right

By: Friday November 30, 2012 4:15 pm

If I had been asked to craft a 650-word U.N. speech for Rice that would meet every requirement of an AIPAC-approved document, it would have sounded remarkably like that delivered by the ambassador. Had former U.N. ambassador John Bolton delivered the speech, there would have been more inflammatory adjectives, but 97% of the speech would have been the same.

By: Tuesday June 5, 2012 2:30 pm

After a couple weeks of hope, there troubling signs about the future of negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program. It appeared the IAEA had struck a deal with Iran for future inspections, but now, IAEA chief Yukiya Amano has announced new talks, as well as a revelation about satellite images showing demolished buildings at Parchin, one of the sought-after sites by UN weapons inspectors.

Late Night: Newt Gingrich, John Bolton, and Plato’s Retreat

By: Wednesday December 7, 2011 8:00 pm

What’s amazing about the wet-thighed conservative worship of John Bolton is that it’s being showered by people who claim to espouse “conservative family values” onto a guy who has yet to satisfactorily answer allegations that he forced his first wife into group sex and was known to frequent the swinger’s club Plato’s Retreat, which flourished in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

“How dare you be intolerant!”

By: Wednesday October 12, 2011 1:30 am

Mitt Romney has declared. “Why can we not go back to hating the Indians Masons Irish Catholics Italians Blacks Chinese Suffragettes Evolutionists Socialists Jews Wets Communists Intellectuals Cubans India Indians the poor Mexicans Gays, hey did I mention Blacks? Muslims like the good ol’ days?” And on that last note, this looks like a good [...]

Republicans lose a few nuts in the Presidential race, but may gain a one-man assortment.

The NeoCons’ Long Animosity Towards Mohammed el Baradei

By: Friday January 28, 2011 1:45 pm

It’s not at all clear that Baradei will serve as the kind of leader in Egypt that he seems to want to. But given that Baradei is one of the few opposition leaders the US press seems to understand, I think it worthwhile to review the Neocons’ long-standing attacks on him.

Cheney’s “Hard, Hard Power” and Syria

By: Saturday September 4, 2010 1:00 pm

Apparently, the Poodle’s memoir (the tour for which got a little messy in Dublin) confirms something that was blatantly obvious: Dick Cheney wanted to conquer the entire Middle East, country by country.

John Bolton Pal Appointed to Israeli Whitewash Panel

By: Monday June 14, 2010 7:38 pm

Ok, so I feel really dumb. When looking at the announcement of the Israeli “investigation” which attempts to bypass standard international law to coverup the attack on the Freedom Flotilla, I noted there was an Irishman and a Canadian on the panel – though without voting rights. I was distracted by the White House’s wholehearted [...]
