Israel Increases Attacks on Gaza: Knocking Out Power Plant, Expanding Target List

By: Wednesday July 30, 2014 6:45 am

Despite international outcry over civilian casualties, Israel escalated its strikes on Gaza yesterday. One of the strikes knocked out an electric power plant in Gaza that started a large fire and left many residents in the dark. Disabling the power plant also meant water, sewage, and hospitals were offline at a time when they were needed the most.

The Palestinian death toll for the day was at least 100 with the total Palestinian death toll since Israel launched Operation Protective Edge on July 8th of over 1,200.

Questions Surround Edited NBC Report on Al-Shifa Hospital Bombing

By: Tuesday July 29, 2014 6:45 am

Something strange happened yesterday. NBC News reported that Israel bombed Al Shifa hospital located in the Gaza Strip only to later pull back the report based on statements from the Israeli military. Ayman Mohyeldin, an NBC reporter, claims there is video and pictures to back up the initial account that the attack on the hospital came from an Israeli drone.

New York Times Reporters Avoid Investigative Journalism When Covering Israel’s Bombing of UN-Run School

By: Monday July 28, 2014 9:15 am

New York Times reporters seem to have neglected to engage in investigative journalism when reporting on last week’s attack by Israeli forces on a school in Gaza.

The school in Beit Hanoun, which was being run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), was shelled on July 24. At least sixteen people were killed and about 200 people were wounded in the attack, which occurred while the UN agency was trying to evacuate people.

David Gregory Caught Using Unverified Israeli Propaganda Video To Smear UN

By: Monday July 28, 2014 6:45 am

In yet another embarrassing moment for Meet The Press, David Gregory was caught using Israeli government video claiming to show rockets being fired from a UN school with no verification, only to have to to walk back the claim later in the show. Gregory accusingly introduced the video during an interview with UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) spokesperson Chris Gunness.

Podcast: The Double Standard That Police Display Towards Protests Supporting Palestinians

By: Sunday July 27, 2014 9:33 am

Thousands of people have been demonstrating in support of Palestinians and against Israel’s assault on Gaza in major cities across the United States. Police have shown some willingness to facilitate protests, but organizers have also experienced a double standard in the way police handle Palestinian supporters versus Israel supporters. Multiple examples of this double standard, in fact, have surfaced in recent weeks.

When Is a Ceasefire Not a Ceasefire?

By: Saturday July 26, 2014 5:00 pm

Today has been a confusing day with news of a 12 hour humanitarian ceasefire followed by talk of a four hour extension that may or may not have been accepted by Israel and was rejected by Hamas – and now, as I write, talk of a new 24 hour ceasefire.

While Israeli forces warned Gazans not to go to their home areas during the ceasefire, many did and the images and news are devastating with over 1000 dead, over 5000 injured and likely more in the rubble.

New Facebook Page Equates Sex With Israeli War on Gaza

By: Friday July 25, 2014 6:00 pm

As the death toll of civilians, including children (the UN states the conflict takes the life of one child each hour), and the overall death count reaches 800 persons, you’d think even Israelis might be asking questions about what is being carried out in their names.

But at least in some cases, you’d be wrong.

In an apparent show of support for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), a new Facebook page has appeared where women (and one man) strip down to show their breasts and butts in provocative, sexual positions all decorated with pro-IDF slogans. It’s NSFW.

US Media Outlets Cite Israeli Military Propaganda, Cast Doubt on Whether Israel Bombed UN-Run School

By: Friday July 25, 2014 12:50 pm

After shelling a Gaza school run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), where Palestinian refugees were being sheltered, Israel immediately sought to blame Hamas for an attack that resulted in 15 people being killed and 200 people being wounded.

The Israeli military forces immediately claimed that “rockets launched by Hamas had landed in the Beit Hanoun area during fighting with its forces, and that those rockets may be responsible for the deaths.”

Israel Kills 15 at UN School as Protests Rock West Bank

By: Friday July 25, 2014 11:03 am

While Israel continually congratulates itself for sometimes texting Palestinian families to evacuate their homes before blowing them up, the IDF is also striking the places those families are evacuating to.

Yesterday 15 people were killed and dozens wounded at a UN school in Gaza after Israel struck the facility. UN personnel were among the casualties with Israel saying people were allegedly told to leave the school three days before it was attacked.
