Idaho will not expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act at this time. In his state of the state address Governor C. L. “Butch” Otter said that he will not seek an expansion this year.

When Idaho Senator Chuck Winder proposed a bill that would force every woman to undergo a mandatory ultrasound prior to an abortion, he admitted he had no idea exactly what sort of ultrasound he was mandating, and he had no idea how women would pay for them. Neither issue has been cleared up in the final bill, passed through committee on a 7-2 vote, and sent to the senate where it is expected to be voted on as soon. It’s time to call people.

Mitt Romney likely has the LDS community to thank for two of his six wins in yesterday’s Super Tuesday. While there are now entrance polls to verify this fact based on past voting patterns, it is very likely that the Mormon vote is what propelled Romney to both his big win in the Idaho caucus and his narrow victory in the Alaska caucus.

It is Super Tuesday in the Republican presidential primary. This is the single biggest day in the primary with roughly 20 percent of the delegates at stake. Idaho is one of the most conservative states in the country–McCain carried it with over 61 percent of the vote in 2008–yet, even in this deep-red state, the people overwhelmingly support allowing individuals access to medical marijuana, according to a new poll.
